Change at Thomas Crossroads this year mostly came one storefront at a time. Each new place was a single restaurant with its own door, sitting in a retail center along Highway 34. That phase is almost over. The projects that come next are a food hall built to hold about six restaurants under one roof and a proposed grocery-anchored shopping center. County staff's recommended conditions for the second one would have its developer help pay for traffic signals on Fischer Road.
So the next round of change near Sharpsburg will show up in two places. New menus will appear, and so will new turn lanes, new signals and new driveways onto Highway 34 and Highway 54.
Here is where every project stands as of mid-October 2026.

The 2026 Openings Came One Restaurant at a Time
The year started with a chicken sandwich. The City Menus reported that Dave's Hot Chicken would open at 4957 E. Highway 34, Suite 700, on Friday, Feb. 20, with doors opening at 11 a.m. Coverage from March confirmed it opened on that date.
Dessert came in early summer. The Peach Cobbler Factory announced on June 12 that its Highway 34 shop was open. The company described it as its 15th location in Georgia. The shop is at 3441 Highway 34, in Suite A next to Chanel Barbershop, and its location page lists daily hours and online ordering.
Two more places joined the lineup on similar terms. La Parrilla broke ground at Fischer Marketplace in August 2025, with a site sign that read "Opening Fall 2025." Its Sharpsburg page at 130 Fischer Marketplace Ln. now lists hours and online ordering. Tim Hortons is serving dine-in and drive-through customers at 2744 GA-34.
Breakfast is next. In April, The Toasted Yolk Café signed a lease at the Thomas Crossroads Kroger center for the space where Duff's Wings and Crust & Craft used to be. The City Menus reported the deal. The center's owner lists the tenant in Unit 001 at 3150 Highway 34 East, a 3,827-square-foot space. As of The City Menus' Oct. 13 update, the café was marked "Build-Out Started," and no opening date had been announced.
Each of these openings changed the dinner options and nothing else. A parking lot got busier and a sign went up, but the intersection itself stayed the same.
Frida's Is the Last Single-Door Opening, and It's Close
Frida's Grill & Bar already has a following in Fayetteville. Its second dining room is at 15 Thomas Grace Annex Ln., Suite 200. In March, WhatNow Atlanta reported that owner Teodoro Reyes Llamas was aiming for a May opening, depending on permits. That date slipped, which is common for new restaurants.
As of mid-October, the restaurant's website shows a Sharpsburg menu, the Thomas Grace Annex address and posted hours. The phone line is still listed as "coming soon." On The City Menus' openings tracker, Frida's carries the status "Health Inspection Passed." That is usually one of the last steps before a restaurant opens. Call before you drive over expecting a table.
After Frida's, the next projects on the list are much bigger than one restaurant.
Bailey Station Commons Puts Six Kitchens Under One Roof
Bailey Station Commons is The Dockery Group's mixed-use project off Highway 34 East. It sits behind Mr. Clean Car Wash and Dunkin'. The project totals 24,000 square feet. Its centerpiece, called "The Forum," is a food hall and entertainment space planned with about six restaurants, a coffee-and-dessert spot, an arcade, pool tables, a year-round indoor-outdoor patio and a rooftop bar. Within that total, 15,000 square feet is set aside as commercial lease space.
Every restaurant that opened at the crossroads this year is a place you go for one meal. Bailey Station Commons is a place where a group can split up, eat from different kitchens and stay into the evening. Thomas Crossroads doesn't have anything like it today.
The site is moving. In a September update, Nathan Dockery told The City Menus that 75% of the site work was finished and half the commercial spaces had been leased. The group was still looking for retailers to fill the rest. The January announcement aimed for the public to be using the space by the beginning of 2027. The September update did not give a new date, so that January target is still the only one on record. No restaurant tenants have been named for The Forum yet.
Trinity Station Would Bring a Grocery Store and New Traffic Signals
The second big project is about errands more than evenings out. Trinity Development's proposal sits at 195 Fischer Road, near Highways 54 and 34. The Newnan Times-Herald first described a 30,000-square-foot grocery store, more retail and restaurants, and an oil-change center. The project went through the state's Developments of Regional Impact review as DRI 4717, submitted April 23, 2026.
The Times-Herald's follow-up laid out the current site plan. It includes a grocery store, a retail center and eight outparcels, one of them for the oil-change business, with 128,408 square feet of proposed building space in all. The rezoning request asks to change about 27.14 acres from rural conservation to commercial, plus a separate 1-acre tract to heavy commercial for the oil-change use. The paper did not name a grocery tenant.
This is where the next phase reaches the roads. The plan proposes four ways in and out of the site:
- One entrance from Highway 34
- Two entrances from Highway 54
- One entrance from Fischer Road
County staff attached conditions to their recommendation for approval. They include building turn lanes and modifying existing traffic signals nearby. One proposed condition would also require the developer to pay $500,000 toward the county's plan to signalize the intersection of Fischer and Minix roads, and $750,000 toward the intersection of Fischer and Andrew Bailey roads.
That proposed condition puts the gap between this year's openings and the next phase in dollars. Dave's Hot Chicken moved into a suite. Trinity Station, as staff proposed it, would help pay for $1.25 million in signal work at two intersections on Fischer Road, the road many Sharpsburg households already use to reach Highway 34.
The Coweta County Board of Commissioners scheduled the public hearing for its Oct. 20, 2026 meeting, at 6 p.m. in the Commission Meeting Chambers at 37 Perry Street in Newnan. The board's decision, and any conditions it adopted, will be posted on the county's agendas and minutes portal. Check there for the outcome rather than relying on the staff conditions listed above. The conditions are what staff recommended, and the board can change them.
The Order Things Are Likely to Arrive
Put together, the projects line up in a rough sequence that's easy to follow from day to day:
- Now: Dave's Hot Chicken, The Peach Cobbler Factory, La Parrilla and Tim Hortons are serving customers along Highway 34 and at Fischer Marketplace.
- Next: Frida's has passed its health inspection, and The Toasted Yolk Café is in build-out at the Kroger center.
- Early 2027 target: Bailey Station Commons and The Forum, behind Mr. Clean Car Wash and Dunkin'.
- Pending the county's decision: Trinity Station's grocery store, outparcels and the proposed Fischer Road signal money tied to them.
One smaller project is still waiting. Pamir Market is a proposed gas station and convenience store with a small carry-out restaurant at 2744 Highway 34 East, next to Tim Hortons. It was awaiting final county approval when The City Menus reported on it in June 2025. It is still on the outlet's coming-soon list as of Oct. 13.
For anyone who lives near the crossroads, this year's openings changed where to eat on a Friday. The next two projects could also change which turn lane you sit in on the way home and where the new signals go on Fischer Road.
